Here are five things to know about betting the NFL Preseason:

  • Follow as many beat writers as you can. This is where you will find out what a game plan is as well as who will play suit up and for how many series’ they plan on playing.
  • A team’s depth at quarterback determines a lot. A team with a veteran quarterback on the roster will be able to pick apart second and third team defenses in the later stages of games.
  • Last year favorites went 35-11-1 straight up in the preseason. Avoid the spread and build some money line round robins.
  • Everyone knows about betting unders in the preseason, and the books have adjusted. Be careful of betting on this trend. Last week’s Hall of Fame game got closed at O/U 30.5 and went over.
  • Shop around. Make sure that you have multiple outs to always be shopping for the best number. A team that is -2.5 favorites at one sports book, could be -1.5 at another.
